01) Papercut Cinema - V.5
by lostwire
June 28, 2006

"This is my rifle. There are many like it but this one is mine. My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life."

"Are there no gods... no Buddha? If you exist, hear me. You are mischievous and cruel! Are you so bored up there you must crush us like ants? Is it such fun to see men weep?"

"You want to explain the math of this to me? I mean, where's the sense in risking the lives of the eight of us to save one guy?"

02) Women And Wardens:
The Best In WIP
by Shawn McLoughlin
June 2005

Ahhh, women, prison, and film. Three great tastes that taste great together.

The Woman-In-Prison (WIP) genre is nothing new, but it certainly isn’t a genre that many in the mainstream recognize. There aren’t many award winners in the genre’s catalogue, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t some great movies. And, if you’re willing to mine for gems in the rough, a few exceptional ones. WIP is a perfect example of a cult genre. This isn’t a genre that I am particularly experienced in, but I have seen quite a bit in my exploration of exploitation.

03) Noto's Corrupt Christmas Films
by Shawn McLoughlin
December 15, 2005

As anyone who has ever conversed with me on the forum or anyone who has ever read one of my reviews can attest, I am a bitter asshole. I might be bittersweet at times, but bitter nevertheless. And always an asshole. Christmas means little, if anything, to my way of life. However, it should be just as obvious that I will watch just about anything placed in front of me. Misty Mundae or Marlon Brando? Doesn’t matter, I’ll check it out. So in my years of watching films not because I wanted to, but because they were “the only thing on” or because I was tired of tapping on my NES to get it to recognize the cartridges, I’ve happened on a few, well, different Christmas films. So here they are, in no real order, some whacked out Christmas movies. Consider it my gift to you this holiday season.

04) Out On A Limb: Hyping Saw II
by Eric San Juan
October 27, 2005

It was going to be a small little horror/slasher flick. Grim, heavily influenced by things like David Fincher's Seven, stylish.

But it wasn't supposed to be huge.

For writer/director James Wan and writer/actor Leigh Whannell, the big success of Saw, sparked by nonstop word-of-mouth and an ingenious marketing campaign, has opened up doors. Doors to new films and new opportunities. Doors to more recognition and more money. And doors to sequels.

05) INTERVIEW: Lou Taylor Pucci
by Larry Phillips

Welcome to the very first interview, and boy do we start off with a doozey!  It is only appropriate that a website that is about to hit it big in 2005 has a chat with an actor who is about to hit it HUGE this year as well.  DIMP was thrilled to chat with Lou Taylor Pucci who is having, and will have, a year that very few actors will ever get to experience.

06) A Look Inside: Satan's Playground
by Eric San Juan
October 6, 2005

There is a horror lurking in the vast expanse of the New Jersey Pine Barrens, a terrible creature of legend. Bloodthirsty. A demonic presence, born of a 19th Century mother tired of having children, frustrated at her ever-growing brood. She cursed the child, wished for a devil. And got her wish.

That child is the Jersey Devil, the unseen fear behind Dante Tomaselli’s latest horror film, Satan’s Playground.

07) The Beverly Hillbillies vs What's Happening!!
by Jim McDevitt

The Beverly Hillbillies and What’s Happening!! don’t seem like natural shows to compare, do they? No, they really don’t, but that’s where the fun is. These two situation comedies, which on the surface appear to have nothing in common, actually are similar in many ways and, as silly as this idea is, there are some excellent comparisons to be made. Read along and you’ll see just what I mean.

08) “I Can’t Believe I’ve Never Seen This!”
by Eric San Juan
September 29, 2005

It’s confession time. This may not come easy – confessions never do – but it must be done. It would be dishonest to do anything but. After all, I sit here and write for a DVD website, offering my perspective on cinema to you, the reader. So in the interest of honesty, I confess: There are a whole slew of culturally important films I have never seen.

10) Clive Barker Raises Hell
by Eric San Juan
November 3, 2005

He's been a popular and successful author, penning short stories and novels that have sold hundreds of thousands of copies and spawned a thriving and loyal fan base.

He's been a movie director, bringing his horrific, entirely unique creations to the screen and gathering a cult following of devoted fans in the process.

He's even been a driving force behind a successful (and frightening) video game.

He is Clive Barker, and by any measure he is one of the great modern masters of horror, a name arguably second only to Stephen King in the world of multimedia terror.
